I'm looking to buy a fishing boat in the next few months, preferably an Orkney Spinner or LongLiner. Where should I be looking apart from the usual sites like eBay and Gumtree?

Bobfly

The big coastal marinas, plus Balloch etc. ??

I have owned a Spinner and used a Longliner a lot. Forgive me if I am teaching you to suck eggs but they are very different boats. In my experience, a Longliner really needs a proper slipway - but it will cope with pretty much any weather (don't ask me how I know ).

The Stornoway Sea Angling Club had an Arran 16 for years, which I made the most of. It was a fantastic sea boat.

Excellent, thank you.

I've been looking at one today that has a fresh coat of paint and looks great but the advice I've had from the Orkney Owners site is not to pay too much for a painted boat so it's hard to gauge.

A Mk1 (early 80s) Longliner sold for £1800 on eBay at the weekend. The one I'm looking at is £1900.
