Have any of you guys any experience of Loch Watten House.
I stayed there 20 years ago when it was called the Loch Watten Hotel.

My mate and I fished Loch Watten for 3 days which was brilliant.
2 things I recall about the trip were my mate calling the Watten trout 'angry troot' cos of the way they attacked the flies and the fact that his fingers were getting torn to bits while he was unhooking them.
I told him the blood on his flies was causing the fish to go into a frenzy.

The other thing was that Watten is the only place where a hatch of flies has forced me off the water.
It was the first week in July and I've never experienced a blizzard like it.
I was still coughing up caenis shucks a fortnight after coming home.

Still, I've got a hankering to return this coming season so any thought's would be appreciated...............wee bri............

Chaps, if you are planning a trip there, bear in mind that Watten does not open until 1st May.

Check with Hugo Ross he'll give you an honest opinion of the digs to be found in the area.

Me?  I'm a trailer trash kind of guy

When I was up last year, Hugo recommended Loch Watten House (That's the big white house on the right as you come into Watten from Wick). A couple of other anglers I met were not very impressed with the Brown Trout Hotel, but hey, if it's got a bed who cares.

I'll be back in the caravans again this year.

I can also highly recommend the chippie opposite Hugo's shop in Wick. A must visit place for all us Trashies.  :D
