My Internet connection went down the Swannee the other night. After much headbanging and dragging an old laptop back in to commission I have found out there is an incompatibility with Zone Alarm and the latest Microsoft update.
Close down Zone Alarm and the connection should be restored. The download a new version of Zone Alarm.
Why don't these people talk to each other?
I had the same problem so I removed the update and downloaded a new zonealarm and it went back to normal. I haven't chanced allowing the update to reinstall itself though :)
I've just been giving my 12 year old hell for mucking around with the settings on the machine - oops
Norm
Just reinstalled the update and then uninstalled it again because it stopped internet access, again.
Downloaded and reinstalled Zonealarm, installed the update and now it is working alright.
I had serious problems uploading pictures with my new laptop, blamed Vista, Norton, my own ignorance, asked lots of experts for advise, no solution...
Than someone advised me to download and try Mozilla Firefox.... and the problem was gone....
Worth a try.
Cheers, Hans.
Had the same problem with ZoneAlarm and thought Josh had been mucking about with PC then saw article on BBC about the problems caused by update. Changed ZoneAlarm settings to medium so could access internet and downloaded update from their website and everything now hunky dory. Think ZoneAlarm caused this problem as other sites had issued patches before microsoft issued security update.
The joys of computers. :D
Hans - use Firefox on home and works pc's and laptop and find it a lot better than interet explorer.
