A while back in one of the magazines there was an article on the Haslam.
There were a number of variations on the theme. The one that took the fancy
of my friend John and I was one tied by a DM Jones. It was on a long shanked
double salmon hook. We cannot work out the body materials or tying and have
tried trawling the net for details but to no avail. John wrote to Moc Morgan who
had compiled the articles but to date there has been no response from him.
Can anyone help.

The pattern given in "Successful Sea Trout Angling" By Grame Harris and Moc Morgan is;
Silk: White
Hook: 4-10 Single or ( larger sizes) double.
Tag: Flat silver tinsel
Butt: White wool or floss.
Tail: Small golden pheasant crest.
Body: Flat silver tinsel.
Rib: Oval silver wire
Throat: Blue jay
Wing: hen pheasant tail.
Horns: Blue/yellow macaw curving along wings and crossing over behind tail.
Head: Black varnish

The tying Stewart gives is below.
Tag : flat silver tinsel
Butt : white wool or floss silk
Tail : golden pheasant topping (small)
Body : flat silver tinsel, ribbed with oval silver
Throat hackle : barred blue jay or dyed guinea fowl
Wing : hen pheasant tail tyed slim
Horns : blue macaw, or dyed blue swan, curved along the side of wings to cross at tail

The differences I see are :-
Butt : Gold floss in place of white
Body : a palmered badger hackle
