The Angler's Guide to the Rivers & Lochs of Scotland
By Robert Blakey (1892)
It is quite amusing to read these old books and sometimes quite an eye opener especially as he talks about fishing for Brown Trout all over Scotland for FREE, and even the Salmon and Sea Trout in most places :)
He laments the poachers and the nets then goes on to describe baskets of 6 dozen fish from a small streams as normal especially on the worm :)

Great find! :)
I've had it on my tablet for a while but have only now got around to read it :)
I like the account of fishing by goose; tying a length of line and a baited hook to the goose's leg and chasing it off into the loch to attract a pike!

I read that story a number of years ago in another old book :)

Perhaps we should try it out. First, catch your goose ........

That is easy enough round our local loch. They are so used to people feeding them they will come right up to the open car door and are easily grabbed. A guy made a lot of money at Christmas time doing just that, until he was caught :)
