Title: Wild Pansies.
Post by: piscatus absentis on May 05, 2011, 11:22:16 PM
There have been wild pansies on this hillside for as long as I can remember.  This year they have exploded - millions of them.  This is only one part of the hillside.  I've posted a bigger than usual picture to try to show them clearly.

I was out yesterday to a spot where there often a few wild pansies and there were masses of them.  More than I have seen there before.  Good year for pansies.

Good year for hawthorn flies as well.

Come to think of it the Hawthorn was in bloom at the beginning of the month. I'm sure that is the earliest I have recorded it.
