You don't need a copyright notice. The copyright notice is there for you to set out the usage rights for the published item whether it is a picture, sound byte or a novel. Everything you publish, whether on paper or the internet remains your copyright unless you sign over usage rights or agree to the publisher, either paper or internet, to use it as they see fit. This forum has a disclaimer stating that Fred can use anything posted on the site for the running of the site but not for any other use and that he can retain those items until such times as he no longer needs them or the forum closes. This is so that in the event of someone leaving he doesn't have to remove anything and cause discontinuity in threads that they have posted in. By signing up you automatically agree to these usage rights so that there is no need for any member to publish a copyright notice here. The poster still retains the copyright and can use those items published for his own use. Some publishers wont allow this and require full usage rights but the right to be identified as the publisher remains with the author. If the author produces something for a company who is paying him to do so as part of his job then the copyright belongs his employer and the author has no usage rights but must still be recognised as the author.
