If you prefer something simpler, then get this ; ( Direct download link!)

http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/magic/creativesuite/CS2_EOL/PSE/PSE_5.0_WIN_ESD1_ENG.exe (http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/magic/creativesuite/CS2_EOL/PSE/PSE_5.0_WIN_ESD1_ENG.exe)

( serial number    1057-1414-3729-7573-7352-1206  )

quite a lot of people use this, not least because it is a lot easier to learn, but of course you can't do as much with it.

A manual  for it;

The version there is version 5, you will have got the newest version, which is 11;

so it can do a few more things.

here is a comparison of elements and photoshop;

You can still get the photoshop software if you want.  Photoshop is industrial grade software, and most people don't really need it, but getting it for free is of course quite another matter! :)

Also, the CS2 Suite is a great deal more than just Photoshop;

Creative Suite 2 in April 2005.[3] The first two versions (CS and CS2) were available in two editions.

The Standard Edition included:

    Adobe Bridge (Since CS2)
    Adobe Illustrator
    Adobe InDesign
    Adobe Photoshop
    Adobe Version Cue
    Design guide and training resources
