I am contemplating building my first fly rod.
Ideally I'd like a 11ft 4wt loch style boat rod with a nice medium action.
Does anyone have any ideal where I could source a good blank?
Cheers

as most blanks come from the US that may be a tough blank to find.David Norwich does one that size but you are talking the best part of £300 quid for the blank alone.

Have you done a Google search?
There are a few but, as Garry says, from America.

There are a few on Ebay too.
Thanks guys. I looked at the ebay blanks and could not get excited.
But i have to say sandy that site is a real find you could get all the parts for less than $50.

Believe other than Norwich they are the only UK company still making their own blanks.
Tight Lines
Thanks Alan. I took the plunge with the site sandy posted. Everything for around £57, blank, cork grip, reel seat and guides, which I thought was unbelievable.
I'll get the consumables from Norwich though.

Chaps,
I got the blank, handle, reel seat and guides for $76. Will get the other items from David Norwich. The one thing I am struggling with is guide spacing? I have no info concerning the blank other than its 11ft 6inch and rated for a.3/4 wt line.
Any ideas?

I posted a similar request a few years ago and sandfly sent me a nifty wee program for calculating the spacing- buggered if I can find just now paul but I'll post it up when I find it.
Found one- not sandfly's one but this should be good- it was made by one of the top dogs on rodbuildingforum.com
