As promised last year,

RDT Scale Sampling Workshop to be held on 29th. March
The RDT will be holding the first of a series of scale sampling workshops for anglers next Monday evening the 29th March at 7 pm in the Trust's Cluny Office (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=369052&Y=812062&A=Y&Z=115).

The workshop involves a presentation, discussion and practical participation in scale sampling. Those attending will be recorded as RDT recognised scale samplers and will be issued with scale packets for the collection of scales from this seasons Don fish.

The information will provide the RDT with valuable data on the life history of Salmon, Sea Trout and Brown Trout present in the Don's rod catch and will also provide anglers with information on the fish they have caught.
For those of whom would be interested in taking part in the workshop please email Jamie on biologist@riverdon.org.uk to confirm a place by Fri 26th.

I'm sure that workshop will be very interesting Dave.

Anyone know  how the scale sampling school went?

Jamie

Dear Fred et al

The scale sampling workshop was attended by 11 folk which was not to bad given the short notice of the event. We will be holding further sessions at the Trust office at Cluny and would like to encourage any anglers from the forum interested in participating to get in touch with me on biologist@riverdon.org.uk.

Any one participating in the workshop is by no means expected to have to sample scales after attendance so if you are wanting to come along just to learn a bit more about the process from sampling to preparing and to reading the scales then you most welcome.
It would be great to meet some more of the local trout anglers and have a chance to bleather about other topics too.

Best regards Jamie
