In an old aquarium :) This was my first aquarium made by my Dad when I was about 9/10 so 60+ years old. It is angle iron with glass glazed with putty :) I will put up a few pics later as I have just resealed the inside with sealer and am waiting on it curing. It was stored out in the greenhouse for the past twenty years and, with the heat and cold expanding and contracting the angle iron it has cracked the base and a little bit on two corners. I had some pvc/acrylic multiwall sheeting so I cut a piece to fit inside the tank over the cracked bottom and sealed it in with sealer. The next big test will be adding water, outside in the garden just in case, and see if it is water tight :)

My first tank was a 3 foot angle iron job I got from a mate of mine. Can't think what happened to it.  :)

I forgot to say that this one is 24x12x16 inches.

Well that didn't go well. Water test today and my silicone skills are sadly lacking. I will dry it out and try again as I can see where it is leaking past the base insert :) If it doesn't work next time it is for the bin :)

Still can't get the old tank to hold water :) Down to my bad Silicon sealing.

I finally got it water tight :) It is sitting empty at the moment but I have an external cannister filter running on one of my other tanks to seed it and will get it aquascaped, planted and filled the first chance I get.

I put my own fishkeeping ideas on hold last year simply because I did not have enough space to do it properly or do the hobby justice. However I've made some significant changes in the house so it's game on again. I want to have at least 3 tanks eventually, couple for breeding and / or quarantine. As I get older and less inclined to travel about I'm looking at more home based hobbies.

What size of tanks? What really surprised me was the cost of things. I know it has been years since I had to buy anything major but, even having the tanks, the price is eye watering :)

Not sure yet Sandy, but  agree with you that tank prices appear to have massively increased in real terms. I'll shop around a bit. There are a few local FB groups where folks buy and sell tanks and stuff. No rush!
