Title: Conditions
Post by: JIMCCS on January 07, 2012, 12:27:57 AM
Are the better Pike fishing conditions from the banks of a Loch at this time of year a wee bit windy and dull or calm and bright?

Given a choice, I'd go for dull and windy, assuming the wind is from the prevailing west or better, south west. That means mild conditions = more active fish, given they are cold blooded creatures.

That said, I've seen good fish caught in the shallows in cold, bright easterly conditions. I had a near 30lb fish in just those conditions around this time of year, so it is always worth a go.

I'd still feel more confident in a W or SW wind .
