I have been looking for sometime now for a Greys Missionary 9ft#5 7-pce fly  rod or a March Brown 9ft#5 fly rod.
But I am having no luck in finding one.

If by any chance you have one of the above rods and wish to move it on please PM me.

I would be most grateful .

All the best,
Gary.

The only ones I found are in America $299.99

It would seem they were a special edition and they are hard to get. I was looking a while back at the #7 but just can't see past my three piece #7 Daiwa :)

The Orvis Frequent Flyer travel rods are excellent if you are looking for an alternative to the above.
I used to be a surrealist but now I'm just fish.

I just noticed on that American site you can by two for $500 or two different weights for $500, that will be plus postage and whatever customs add :)

The Ovris Frequent Flyer is a nice rod ,but it is a tip flex.
I prefer a mid to tip action in my fly rods.

Thanks Fishtales for pointing out the offer on the March Brown web page.
Postage is one thing but customs as well no thanks.

All the best,
Gary.

Garry, in the past I have avoided having to pay customs, import duty by clearly specifying / marking as a "gift". Just FYI.

On rods the TARIC is 3.7% then the PO handling fee on top, which is £8 I think, then VAT too.

Had a look on the Import Duty site.

The duty on rods, as far as I can make out, is 3.7%

For the two rods at $500 which is £323 at current rates

plus duty at 3.7%, £8 handling fee and VAT at 20%

comes to £363.

Somebody want to check my figures?

+ postage (and duty on postage)?

I always just add 35% to the American price as a rule of thumb

I have had another look on the web and found a good selection of travel rods from this site www.fly-fishing-tackle.co.uk.

I somehow managed to post an answer to this in the wrong travel rod thread, maybe cause im a divvy.
Anyway I can highly recommend the Fulling Mill rods , they are the same as TFO rods sold in the USA just rebranded, but as FM are known for flies they struggle to sell , really nice rod for the money and I like them just as much as my Sage/Loomis/T&T rods.
Come in 4&6 section-http://tacklebargains.co.uk/acatalog/Fulling_Mill_Fly_Rods.html
Cheers Colin
