This is the Yellow Floating Nymph. A favourite style of mine that is quick and easy to tie, and effective at the right time. Alter the colours to suit what is hatching.
Instructions assume right-handed tyers
HOOK ? Dry Fly 12-18
THREAD ?Yellow Gudebrod 10/0
BODY ? Yellow Fine and Dry
TAIL/ LEGS ? Bleached Grizzle
FLOAT POD ? Grey Fine and Dry.
STEP 1 Wrap the thread to the bend, catching in the tail fibres as you go.

Until you are left with something like this.

STEP 5 Holding the ball of dubbing take the thread down and make a few wrap in front and behind the ball to hold it in place.

STEP 6 Take your feather and snip a section out of it.

Then offer this up and tie in so the barbs either side of the ?V? go down both sides of the dubbing ball to form legs.

STEP 7 Add another pinch of the yellow dubbing to the thread.

And wrap forward toward the eye. Then whip finish and varnish for the completed fly.

To fish this one, use a paste type floatant (Dilly Wax, Gink, etc) and apply only to the ball of dubbing.
