Had a go at recreating the best chutney I've ever made- my wife and I got hooked on this stuff last year. I've made about 3 litres so hopefully some will survive long enough to mature as this tastes even better after about a month and will keep forever.

As usual I measured hee-haw but here's what I can remember:
2 red onions
2 apples
1 stick of celery
loads of over-ripe bananas
dried chili flakes
turmeric
medium curry powder
dark brown sugar
white vinegar

Chili and tomatoe's a great combination. I first started making chutneys when I grew tomatoes outside and ended up with bumper crops of "green" tomatoes towards the end of the season that wouldn't ripen.
