Title: Red Hooks
Post by: Black-Don on August 12, 2010, 08:11:54 PM
Can anyone advise if there is any advantage or disadvantage in using red hooks.

The reason I ask is because I've been thinking of using red hooks for weighted flies which would take the guesswork out of whether flies are weighted or not without carrying a separate box for them. A separate box wouldn't work anyway as I'd forget what they were by the time I came to take them off my fly patch.

Also any good brands which would provide an equlvalent to Kamasan B 175's ( Trout Heavy Traditional ),  B 800 ( Trout Lure Classic extra long ), B 830 ( Trout Lure Classic Long ).

I can't remember if I'm 100% on this but red hooks should appear black to the fish at depth, especially in coloured water.
