i bid on some bronze mallard feathers on eBay,they were a bit weak looking with not much bronze on them .so i tried dying them claret and i am quite pleased with the result it seems to have strengthened the colour and obviously left the white roots of the feather claret.i think these should be OK for claret dabblers until bronze becomes available again.

They look good Garry. What method do you use ?

garryh

Don i just use veniards dyes.all you need is an old pot, boiling water some vinegar to set the colour then you just play around till you get the shade you want.

That's very interesting. Might have a look at the dyes myself if they're that easy to use. I always thought dyeing was a complicated and messy procedure which involved picric acid.
