Has anyone tried these early season? I am sure they must be a major part of a wild fish's diet early season but I can't say I have ever tried them.
Schrodinger's troots pictured above.

Most of the flies in there haven't seen the light of day for years :)

Fish the Marabou's on the tail sink and draw on a floating line.

Hillend is a mixed fishery now so it pays to go prepared although all the fish I have caught up there have been on my usual flies:) I have been known to fish the Lake on occasions too, but the 'foreigners' don't seem to like me so I am not too successful with them.

My other two fly boxes that are online are here.

Now, let's see, that just leaves my Salmon fly box, dry fly box, tubes and waddington box and river box to publish and that's the lot :)

Tried it once when I was 16, hated the stuff. How anyone can drink it is beyond me :)

Fierybroon

Never thought I'd live to see rainbow lures on this site.
FOR SHAME!   .Now, where is that "other forum".

Pearly Invicta

I have a few similar bloodworms. A guy from the Perth and District Angling club gave me them and said the fish practically pull yer arm from its socket when you fish them early season.

My arm is still in its socket.

Wildfisher

I have caught  broonies on a damsel nymph, no reason not to. Although it’s become a stereotypical rainbow lure, it is in fact an imitative pattern.

Fishtales

There is no such thing as a broonie/rainbow only fly. Anything you put on the end of your line and cast into the water, that is moving in the right way, will catch anything feeding there. I used to teach some of the guys how to fly fish with a piece of red wool on the end of the line. They were amazed at the number of fish that came and took it, I even landed a couple that wouldn't let go :)
