I noticed that my snow shoe paw stinks a bit, is this normal?

perhaps it stood in something?   

Can't say I noticed any bad odours on mine, nut my sense of smell is not great

Brian you might need to treat it with a bit more Borax - if its not been fully cured they can sometimes go a bit smelly as any fur will if there is still the possibility of putrification. Got a rabbit skin wrong once SWMBO nearly brained me and Bannished all my dried relicts to the shed for months!! - I still get the scowls now everytime I come home with more Road Kill.
