Title: Kippers
Post by: Black-Don on January 27, 2012, 02:28:21 PM
I was working on a job last week when the Pittenweem fish van came round. He didn't have much left so I bought a couple of head on Kippers.

The difference in taste and texture between these and the ones you get in a boil in the plastic bag from Tesco is like night and day and you don't get that same fake smoked taste which seems to linger all day after eating them.

I've just finished a lunch of

Baked potato with beans and cheese
1 whole head on kipper
1 whole mini Hall's black pudding with sticky tomato chutney
and a lightly dressed seasonal baby leaf salad with tomatoes

It was delicious and you could serve it up as a lunch dish in any of the top notch restaurants

:( All I had was a piece on cold meat and a coffee.
