I saw this on fly forums. I tried it, it works brilliantly and not only with CDC flies.
It does not crush the fly like an amadou pad and works more quickly and effectively on a saturated fly than false casting or "dry shake" powder. Very often on overgrown rivers false casting to dry a fly is either impossible or undesirable because it spooks fish. Try this. I was skeptical, but it is 100% effective, the drying is total and instant. Two or three pings of the rubber band is all that is required.
I now have 2 rubber bands on my fly vest. :D
The video is in Spanish (or it could be Gaelic - all sounds the same to me ), but you will get the idea.

I saw this on Facebook but thought it might just be a gimic ( most of the stuff I see on there is mince) but I'll give it a bash, usually just squeeze them in my tshirt and give them a shake!
I have been dry fly fishing for over 40 years and having tried it I'd say this is the single best tip I have read anywhere. Seriously. :D
That's quite an endorsement!
I'll be marketing it shorty.

Like all the best ideas it's stolen.
It's only took us 5 years to find this in the labyrinth of YouTube.

It's that Gaelic, hardly anyone understands a word of it.
That looks worth a try. I wonder if it works with slimed up flies too, which hasn't happened much lately :(
Alex
I'd guess you just wash off the slime and give it a ping. :D
I like that idea! Rubber band shall be getting carried!

Looks like your too late.
Orvis are doing one for £15. And if it breaks you have that no quibble replacement to fall back on.

Top tip right enough. If it can restore CDC I'll be mightily impressed.
I really hope that my compulsion for fishing doesn't end me with me wearing my fishing vest around the house like that fella ...... but I forgive him because really is a brilliantly clever idea :D
could try 6 bands, and see if you can get a tune.
Been using this method for a couple of years and it works perfect....Ironically enough I picked up this tip from a Spanish person who was a member of our local Club a couple of years ago.
Forgot to say it does work with slimed up flies ....cdc as well.
Used this today and caught a dozen fish, so it was a good trial. Wash off the slime on the river, 3 or 4 pings of the rubber band and you are fishing again. :8)
Must get some elastic bands now and try this.
