For some reason, I can`t access most sites etc. and this is apparently due to my firewall according to the Sky advisor. I downloaded Microsoft security essentials anti virus a good while ago, would I have inherited their firewall and if so can I over-ride it?

MSE doesn't have a firewall. If you are using Windows then that firewall will be on. Go into control panel and scroll to Windows Firewall and see what the settings are, they may be too high. If you are using IE then there is a site blocker on that which will block sites it thinks you shouldn't see according to your setting in there. I don't use IE so I'm not sure where the settings are for that.

Lets take it a bit at a time :)

What firewall are you using? If it is Windows own make sure it is set at Medium in preferences Found in Start/Control Panel/Windows Firewall.

What Browser?

What other Virus protection software other that MSE?

Well apparently my computer`s fecked and I`ve been working away from home and living in digs for the last month or so with no access to the `net, so apologies to the lads that have PM`d me for the lack of response.

and there was me thinking it was just 'cos you didn't fancy getting wet....
