I'm running the avast scan as you write thank you the malwarebytes  one asks me to temporarily disable antivirus and fire wall before running do I then close everything else down cheers Tom

Disconnect from the internet and close the virus software and the firewall then run Malwarebytes. Don't forget to turn them back on before reconnecting to the internet

Firefox is a browser which is just a program the same as CCleaner they both run on Windows which is your Operating System.
