Just reminds me why I quit taking fishing holidays in Scotland. ;D
It is very windy today but at least it is a warm westerly. We have had weeks of cold easterlies - which has been the pattern for early summer for several years now.
My on call weekend so the weather can do what it likes as I'll not be fishing! :D
24 hours of rain here and it is still coming down. There is a puddle outside the caravan that might be worth a cast though :) I haven't been out but I bet the three rivers are bombing down ATM.
Only a few heavy showers here, we are desperate for rain. The farmers are sucking up water and irrigating full belt now.

A good Salmon wave that is all it is
Alex is up in Caithness at the moment, he says the wind is hellish there. Two days fishing so far, no fish. :(
We are also in Caithness, arriving an hour ago. Just checking that my part of the groceries has travelled OK. White horses on the loch below the cottage and 35mph for 2 or 3 days more ... ! The wind seems to have turned this photo too.

Good luck Vaughan, it's always a massive (and now expensive) risk planning a fishing holiday in the north. At least I see you have the emergency rations with you. ;D
What loch is that?
That loch is Yarrows. Might get out tomorrow.
Could anyone with contact details for Stemster loch down at Latheron post them up as I haven't found anything yet.
I suggested Stemster to Alex but he reckons there is no longer any fishing there. Pity, it's a fine loch.
Still very gloomy and windy here again today. Not holding out a lot of hope for the rest of the week having looked at the forecast. :(
It's all my fault as I was planning to do a lot of video with the drone this week. ;D
I was on rannoch moor yesterday. Shocking weather but the fishing was really good. The wee streams between the lochs were hammering down and had become as wide as the clyde :D
We need some Rannoch rain over here Ian, the rivers are on their bones
And still the damned wind howls. I'm just looking at the tree tops over the river some of them look lke they might break. >:(
I went out for 1/2 hour with the drone to see how it would cope with the perma-gale. Quite impressive once I got ovr the fear of trashing £1200 worth of kit over a tattie field. It can cope with 20MPH winds apparently and still get steady shots due to the amazing gimbal set up.
I sent mine up in 27mph winds a fortnight ago, it was rock steady...
It's astonishing how well the gimbals stabilize the video footage.
Agree Fred.
Out of interest, how many members on here have drones?
Only ones know of are you, Philip and myself Ian.
Well after one reasonably calm day yesterday the wind has started to pick up once more. At least it's warm. ::)
Howling today again. Have you seen the forecast for next week? High winds and winter woollies, steady 40MPH with gusts. Not the week for a northern fishing trip. ::)
Scunnered with what seems like constant gales this season >:(
Aye Scott it's getting a bit wearing. >:(
Well we had a boat out on Watten 2 days back and I blanked as have many others as it stirs up a bit. However, Mrs Bobfly had this nice one at two pounds so that was a result.
Yesterday was an over two dozen day on Yarrows before the white horses came back on the loch.
Here is the solid one from Watten. Fine fat condition. Made dive after dive to get under the boat and a real tussle for not that big a fish.

Nice fish Vaughan :D
Watten wasn't easy the days we were on it either. The wind was bad on 5 of the 9 days we had up by :(
Lovely fish Vaughan! :)
