Advice required.

I have a 2 piece Sue Burgess Diamondback 9 foot 6 fly rod which I purchased in 1985.

Over the years the male ferrule has worn to the extent that the 2 sections are touching when the rod is erected and the top section is a bit loose.

I'm told the easiest fix is to remove an inch or so from the bottom of the top section but I'm loathe to attempt this myself as I'd probably ruin it.

Can any of you folks advise a good rod mender (in the Lothians preferrably).

My wife suggested Viagra........what do you guys think?

            Cheers wee Bri..........

I agree with Col. A little candle wax rubbed on the joint makes all the difference.  Careful not to add too much though or the joint will not close properly. Keep a piece of candle in your bag for future use.

I had the same problem with an old Diawa Whisker. I would only buff-off a millimetre at a time. You will be surprised how little you have to remove. You can always take more off – you can't stick it back on!
