Ok guys I know where you are, funny I always had the impression that the Killin end would be favourite - Fearnan now added to my list of must visits.

Stephen - a wee bird told me you had a good day on Lubnaig

had a great day at lubnaig yes, 8 fish and lots missed aswell, who would the wee bird happen to be:-?

Dunkeld

You might call him Mr President - caught up with him in that bastion of angling truth - The Dog House in Balloch after I had been up at the Ba.

My rod arrived just in time for my trip to Assynt (which was cut very short due to a bereavment), however I did have a chance to get a good 2 days out with it - brilliant, light, quite crisp and just a joy to use. First time in years I have used a rod rated at less than 7 or 8 - what a pleasure - I'll be looking at 4/5's next!

I'm fishing the Don this evening. Taking an  8 foot 4 wt. Snowbee Zircon with a super light weight Vosseler real and a Barrio DT floater. A combo that is   an absolute delight  to use. My advice to anyone would be keep heavy rods  and lines  for adverse conditions like gales or as  spare tent poles.  Move down in weight. You certainly don't catch more fish, but it makes your entire fishing experience far more pleasurable and that must be what it's all about, getting maximum pleasure from your day.

Once you use these rods theres no going back. Maybe we are the extreme sport specialists of fly fishing? I don't fish above a 5 wieght for trout now and normally use 3wts. Its just pure brilliant.
