In keeping with the forum policy of continual development that has kept us flying high for almost 10 years, I have added another great new feature. Viewable and playable by registered members only, the Quiz pages can be opened from the menu bar.

Quizes are listed in bulk or they can be displayed by category by using the sub-menus on the right.

Once selected you start the quiz by clicking the start button

The software keeps league tables, scores etc. Remember above all this is just a bit of fun. We can design our own quizzes but to get started I have imported a bunch of off the shelf quizzes.
There are no deadlines or set play times. You can play if and when you choose, you don't have to set aside a special time. Just do your own thing!
To thwart Mr Google each question has a 20 second answer deadline and you can play each quiz once only. I think most quizzes are multiple choice, but I have not checked them all obviously

In case you were wondering the new member "WFF Quiz" is a dummy member I have created to be the "owner" of the imported quizzes. If I had used my own ID I wouldn't have been able to play myself. :8)

This is not easy. The 20 second limit really makes the quizzes tough especially if the questions are long................... ! :lol:

I only managed 7 out of 10 in "World Country Nicknames" I got the question on Turkey wrong, Nae excuse at all as I attended a lecture yesterday about Turkey's "Anatolian Diagonal" a geological fault that runs from the Black Sea to the Med. The answer to the quiz was Anatolia. :roll:

I cannot get on the whumper, just times out. Then when I try again it has moved on to the next question.
I also got 3 wrong in famous people because of my typing and not reading the question! :oops:

That appears to be a common issue. I'll check the support forums and see what they say
OK, try that. There was a bug in the code, fix applied as per support forum. Whumper league appears to be working again, at least it's onto the next round, although I have not tried it yet. see how you get on.

Managed to enter round two, for some reason all the questions were from two of the quizzes- Paints and Paintings in the National Gallery. The same question came up twice- I managed to get it right the second time!

Btw - has anyone else disputed an answer at any point? I've done it at least three times because, well, the proffered answers were wrong! One case that springs to mind was the U2 quiz. What happens when an answer is disputed and the disputer found to be right? Do we get the extra point for being correct, and a bonus point for being a confounded know-it-all? ;)
For some reason I don't get notification of disputes or new member submitted quizzes :?
As far as disputes go, to be honest I don't have the time or the inclination to get involved in endless full stop removal / spelling mistake corrections / wrong / right disputes etc. After all it's only a bit of fun and if you are the competitive type you can console yourself with the fact that these occasional errors disadvantage everyone equally. I'm just grateful that there are people out there who are willing to expend a not inconsiderable amount of time and energy writing code and composing quizzes for us to amuse ourselves with, all free of charge.
No it's ok Fred. I was just curious. It's obvious that you've more-than-enough to do already! :) And yes it's definitely a bit of fun at the end of the day and a nice bonus feature for an already excellent forum. (is that enough schmoozing? ;) )
