Mr crabtree on tonight 9pm Chanel quest 161 probably were it all started for us remember watching as a wean :D

To be honest i had never heard of Mr Crabtree, I was an Out of Town boy with Jack Hargreaves.

I used to hang around with some of these guys in the '70's and 80's,but never actually met this one. He was part of a group of anglers that included John Wilson,all very good anglers,but he is pretty poor in front of a camera.
I was fortunate to meet the guy who wrote Mr Crabtree goes fishing, I think he was the first editor of the Angling Times paper.As a youngster I was a member of the Kingfisher Guild,run by the paper and Bernard Venables(the author) used to send you a birthday card.I can remember as a nine or ten year old waiting for the postman to deliver that card,no idea where they went to,I still have my membership book and badge,great memories not quite fullfilled in this program though.
