Title: A Tangle Too Far.
Post by: JIMCCS on February 16, 2013, 08:39:53 PM
I started off Trotting today on the Tay, but for some reason it was just tangle after tangle so I walked back up to the hoose and rigged up the fly gear.
The water is a wee bit up and for the first time ever for me I put on an intermediate with a short leader and two weighted nymphs to get down a bit. I thought it would have been too weighty to be enjoyable but no it was hitting the right depth and not pulling around too hard either for my 9ft,5# rod. Now I didn`t catch anything but do any of you use intermediates for River fishing?

when the waters up early season i often use the intermediate, on those days when you don't expect to see a fish move, i find it a more relaxing way of getting down to the fish than throwing heavy nymphs upstream.

When the wind is howling downriver I put the intermediate on for easier casting.
