Tyee are nothing more than a big Chinook Salmon. It has to be over 30 pounds to be considered a Tyee. They are not a subspecies or a new species, or particularly rare, there are thousands caught every year. And chefs are not salivating over the thoughts of these fish, smaller Chinook taste better.
