Title: Ignorant Bar Stewards
Post by: Wildfisher on July 21, 2021, 08:03:31 PM
My son is up in Caithness right now. He drove past a lot of lochs heading up to Dunnet Head and saw only one guy fishing. A while later he drives past again and saw the same guy fishing but this time three guys in wet suits went splashing past him. As my son said   a good way to get a clan chief in your arse.

My guess is the swimmers probably had a campervan parked close by.

I ask you, with the number of lochs up there why choose to swim in the one that has a guy fishing on it?

It is because they "have the right". The reservoir I am a member on also has a sailing club. When I was younger I fished it a lot. The sailing club had a few Hooray Henrys in it and there was a 50 metre zone from the shore that was agreed with the club that they would stay outside of to keep clear of the fishing lines. This one guy kept coming right into the shore and tacked along it. We shouted at him to get out a bit and he said I am nowhere near you. I tied a 1oz bomb weight onto the spinning rod and the next time he did it I bounced it of his sail just above his head, he didn't come close in again after that :)
