Dear Fred,

My name is Munro Reid from "Lets tackle cancer ", thanks for agreeing to give our fund raiser some coverage.

You may or may not already be aware of lets tackle cancer, we have had a few mentions in the Trout & Salmon and fly fishing fly tying magazines.

The auction was born on the fly fishing forum last year just to raise a couple of pounds by members auctioning there spare tackle they no longer use.

It was initial kicked off after a fellow forum member died due to this horrible disease.

The charity auction soon grew arms and legs and with support and donations from a lot of trade members, fishing clubs and associations, to date the lets tackle cancer auctions have raised approx nineteen thousand pounds for Marie curie, Cancer research and McMillan Nurses.

Fingers crossed we should have raised £20K by Christmas.

Most donations are not financial donation in fact it is mostly fishing related items that are donated  for example, fishing permits, guiding, casting instruction or simply some old or new fishing tackle, a few home made flies etc.

Any donation how ever large or small are gratefully received.

So far the response has been over whelming with donations from fishing celebrities like Paul Young, Oliver Edwards, Hywel Morgan, John Tyzack, fin Wilson, Scott McKenzie, Paul Procter, Jeremy Lucas and other Hardy and Orvis fishing guides.

Donations have also been coming in from the tackle industry from Glasgow angling centre, Daiwa to Costa sun glasses.

Please see www.letstacklecancer.co.uk for more info.

We have also recently branched in to the world sea fishing forum which has proved to have been successful to date:

More salt water related auctions are listed on the world sea fishing forum.

Each lot runs for approximately 1 month each.

I hope you agree that this is a worthy cause and with your help, I hope to raise more money for these cancer charities.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, i hope you can be involved in some way.

It is a lot to take in, I hope you can take some of the info above to do a small article.

I have also attached our banner if you care to use it.

Sincerely

Munro Reid

It is an admirable cause but I'd rather donate direct or via an auction on THIS forum.

I don't really want to be associated with FF &FT - surprised there isn't a guided day in a fragile and sensitive area !!!!

PS: Not a miserable bastard really, I donate to Macmillan via my Ltd company on a monthly basis, I hope I'll never need them but I also know they'll be there if I do.
I used to be a surrealist but now I'm just fish.

That's exactly how I feel. I will never buy the magazine again for reasons and concerns discussed by our members in the private areas  of our forum, far less become involved with it.  Right now I don't have time to organise auctions, but would have no objections if anyone else wished to do this on our forum.
