I`ve been working and living away from home all week and although the digs and the clients generous subsistence allowance for decent quality meals etc. were very good.....you can`t beat getting home to your own bed, bog and best of all....homemade mince and tatties. :D

You have no idea!

I am on my 3 month roving period and I have been all over the west! Started off down in Utah, had a week in the Great Divide Basin of Wyoming with a quick side trip to Sidney Nebraska. (Home of Cabelas BTW). I had a few days off and then I went up to North Dakota for a blizzard. I am in the office for a couple of days and then some time off when I might get to go fishing if it ever stops snowing! However if it doesn't I have a new toy. It is black and has active pickups!

I'll stick with the mince and tatties!

Dead right Barfly. Much nicer ( and probably safer!) to sit on your own bog. Travelling can be nice and interesting but home is undoubtedly best for lots of things.

I could do that in the garden but prefer the hoose.

I prefer the toilet myself, but each to his own.............

if we all shat outside our world would be greener  this has just given me an idea for the vegetable patch

Probably be browner actually........and rather more aromatic.

The idea is not new;  http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2008/08/080821-human-waste.html

but it can be problematic depending on the diet of those providing it. In Western Europe it is not advisable to use human feces on things you want to eat.( Not a good idea anywhere actually, too many potential dangers).

I thought I had remembered about treated human waste being used as fertiliser.

I was right :)

http://www.thisisdevon.co.uk/Human-waste-used-crop-fertiliser/story-11747379-detail/story.html#axzz2R5GJBiL3

and not just in the UK.

Once treated it is fine, in fact the result from a "composting toilet" is really excellent fertiliser, but raw fresh feces is dangerous.

Sandy I believe  that is what they are spreading all over the moss between Plains and Greengairs. Not for the purpose of fertilizing though.

"Night soil" was widely used by the victorians in gardens and I think I'm right in saying it was responsible for the eventual abondonment of St Kilda. So careful how you use it.
Leicestershire county council used to sell treated waste from their main treatment works as a soil conditioner,my dad had a load, they called it Lesscos, put me right off eating veggies for a bit.

CIA?

I am still British so it would be MI6 I think.  :tongue2

I have been visiting some of the oilrigs that my company works on and they are scattered far and wide over the Rocky Mountain region. I am getting pretty fed up with the standard hotel rooms here in the USA. Most hotels don't have bars or restuarants. Pretty soulless boxes really.

Last day here in the office and going to have a week off. Then off to Colorado (and civilisation) the week after. Proper chip shop and Indian restuarants! :D
