For years, my go-to whisky was Macallan but I was priced out of my favourite 18-year old – and I also thought the quality had fallen off.
I switched to Glendronach especially their Parliament version but in the Aberlour specialist whisky shop today I was warned that when the current Parliament is replaced the new bottles will be different - being chill filtered and bottled at 43% rather than 48%.
Just repeating what I was told but the assistant seemed very knowledgable.

Have a couple of bottles of the Parliament and a very good half it is i find most of the Glendronach bottles to be very good to get it at the right price is the key

Another few to add to the colletion ...a couple i already had but silly to knock them back at the price im getting them for

Was in Mull for the last week and finally visited Tobermory Distillery for the Warehouse 1 experience, not bad value for money considering you sample a 25yr, 19yr and 17yr and come away with a Glencairn Copita. The 25yr was a sublime Manzanilla Sherry cask finish but at £350 a bottle it was more than I was willing to spend! The 19yr Ledaig Oloroso was nice too, very smoky! I came away with a bottle of the 17yr Pedro Ximinez, was 90% as good as the 25yr but less than half the price, quite cool that it was hand bottled there too.

If you like hand bottled, next time you are in the far north call in at Old Pultney in Wick. They let you bottle and label (with your name) your own from a single cask. Good whisky too.

That sounds class, I fancy Islay for a fishing/whisky tour but I should be up north next year and a stop at Wick sounds good for both too.
