New species in the garden last night a Long Eared Owl. It was being mobbed by Crows, Jackdaws and Magpies and landed on the fence behind the shed. Stayed for a while until the mob dispersed and then left.

Don't worry, be happy.

Carried it in full, then carry it out empty.

Nice on Sandy, not often you see a long eared owl in a garden!  :)

Where was the airgun for the Magpies whilst they were distracted?

Didn't the SNP ban airguns in Scotland-grad?  ;)

They are now "licenced" in Scotland but anyone can still nip South of the Border and buy one without a licence and bring it back but are committing an offense.

What a belting thing to find in your garden.

In the late 80's I was working on coal site down in Ayrshire and we had a Long Eared Owl that used to roost in the workshop steelwork, completely oblivious to the work of the fitters 30 foot below. True to their reputation of being wise, it roosted directly above the transformers and switchgear, so had the full benefit of rising warm air. Ironically it got booted out by a pair of Short Eared Owls who took over the tenancy.
Sadly my 7' 5 weight that killed fascists is deceased!
