This is a fly I know only as the Orvis Nymph, I?m not sure if that?s its correct name. I am sure that it has caught me a lot of fish on stillwaters over the years. I have used white baby wool for the thorax here, but you can use pretty much anything white.
I normally fished this fly on the point with the Heron Herl Buzzer (http://www.wildfisher.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=5849.0) on the dropper.
Instructions assume right-handed tyers
HOOK ? Drennan Specimen Chrystal #10
THREAD ? Black UTC 70
RIB ? Fine Oval Silver
BODY ? Peacock Herl
THORAX COVER ? Any Dark Feather Fibre
THORAX ? White Baby Wool
STEP 1
Attach the thread and wrap towards the bend. Catch in the rib as you go.

Wrap the thread back up to the shoulder. Catch in the Peacock Herls as you go.

Twist the Herls into a rope and wrap to form the body.

Follow with the rib.

Tie in the thorax cover as shown.

Tie in the baby wool

Wrap to form the thorax and tie off.
