Now who's been spreading rumours on here again about trouts. By the way Swithurn had a cast of the jetty outside the house last Saturday evening - ten minutes in and a nice 2?Lb Seabass. SWMBO's cooking it up now - not as big as yours but had a few jaws dropping on the pier as I went home with me tea after 10 minutes.

P.s how's life treating you in the western approaches?
Swithurn, forgot to say what about the Drumbeg Hotel looked great when I was in it last for a meal would suit a man like you - even SWMBO was impressed and that is saying something.

I looked in there 2 years ago when a party of us were up there hill walking, looking for somewhere to eat. The welcome was less than warm. Quiet. In fact mausoleum springs to mind. It may have changed though.

Another one for you, Swithun. This is up behind the Tourist Office and is where you can buy permits for the fishing. I haven't stayed in it but the owner is on the committee of the angling club, I think, and can talk the hind legs off a donkey, but all good fishing information :)

QuoteI'm thinking Sionscaig and Polly Lochs if I can get on because I've never done the, and rumour has it they hold a fish or two...
Tip book well in advance ...that way yi guarantee a boat and outboard !!!! were back up later on in the year time and date yet to be decided
I'm off for the week on Saturday into Assynt and we're picking up the cottage keys from the Drumbeg Hotel. The cottage is just a mile or two east. I'll be sure to have a guid wee look at the place and report back
Swithurn, the Drumbeg had just changed hands when we were up and it was recommended to us by a couple of regular customers - it seemed very welcoming and the service seems fine. Child of the mist will be able to give us all a good update upon his visit as I would appreciate knowing what the score is in case I'm up there in September with SWMBO.

Does anyone know if the mayfly have started hatching yet in the Assynt lochs? I'm going up on the first weekend of July and would be quite happy if they waited until a day or two before then.....
The mayfly are hatching according to Dunkeld's fine report.. http://www.fish-wild.co.uk/index.php?database=1&getpage=shortlines&pid=19
Alex
Aye well, if the mayfly have started, hopefully there'll still be some when I get there.

May Fly are on the menu - I had a real red letter day on Awe - see report.
Swithun - the chap at Polcrai Guest House is Cathel McLeod - he is a good bloke who knows a lot about the fishing. he arranged for my boats/permits etc whilst the Alt was closed. The Alt will be dealing with the fishing again soon - they were due to open last weekend but I don't know if it happened.
Cheers
Hold on mate, you had a very 'funny' evening with a bunch of sailors? This is a very open minded forum but feel free not to give us any more detail....
Whats this dodgy sailors in Lochinver - Swithurn? there must be some rumour mills grinding here. :LOL.
Sandy B.O.
Ps. Swithurn presume your off this weekend on your West Coast fishing extravaganza.
QuoteHad a couple of very funny evenings there last year - with a load of visiting foreign sailors in town.
would not broadcast that one about Swithun !!!!!!!
Oh - just a word of advice - it's possibly the tick capital of Scotland - take your neem and some tweezers - no joke!
