It may just be he has worked out how gullible some people can be. Many anglers  look for  magic bullets to quick success. Set up a web site, put lots of glittery  stuff on it, lots of pictures of fish / flies / pictures of satisfied clients  / bullshit testimonials etc etc and some people will eagerly pay £200+  for a day's guided bandy fishing  or even $20 for a wet spider that took you under a minute to tie.

Fact is not everyone is as geographically well positioned, skilled, experienced, well connected  or as street wise as we are and some are ripe for exploitation.  I find this kind of razzmatazz fly fishing a bit distasteful to be honest, but I guess that's how these people have chosen to make their living.

I could have done it myself with the sites. I run, but I prefer "my" sites to be "our" sites, about us rather than me and anyway I am far from comfortable with the notion of making money from wild fishing as there is an immediate conflict of interest that can only be to its long term detriment as well as it being the fast track route to destroying a much loved hobby.

You get this kind of shit in every activity, fishing is in no way unique.

Absolutely, but in the end it is driven by market forces, manipulating them is the key.
That is "marketing".
£5 trainers become £300 trainers by the addition of the name "David Beckham" and so on.
'til a voice as bad as conscience,
rang interminable changes,
on an everlasting whisper,
day and night repeated so-
"Something hidden, go and find it,
Go and look beyond the ranges,
Something lost beyond the ranges,
Lost and waiting for you,
Go."

Borgers book on casting is the tour de force of casting manuals..its harder to understand than casting is

Is that not  the whole point? Mystify something  that is fundamentally simple? Mathematics teachers do that too.
