don't have any angling mags though as I feel that they repeat too much year after year

Part of their problem of plummeting circulation may  in fact be recycling aimed at new anglers. With the numbers of new anglers taking up the game in free-fall, this appears to me to be a flawed strategy. That said  I wouldn't buy FF&FT again no matter what they printed.

i'd like to read about yester-year fly fishing, as far back as anyone can remember, how it was done in different places, how its changed, if you don't know your history you don't know your now,

Then buy books. There is a vast archive of fishing old books out there. You don't need magazines!
