There is an area of limestone which is coming in on the east side of the glen down along the drainage of the Allt na Slaite burn. Where the glen turns south west.

Trout Fishing / Glen Ey
Last post by Wildfisher - April 29, 2024, 08:00:22 PM
Years ago I was told the trout fishing on the river Ey (up by Marr Lodge) was pretty good. Apparently there is quite high alkalinity in the river.

Now I know it looks a bit thin in the photo, but this is well up the glen and there is better water farther down. inc a gorge section at The Colonel's Bed. I have no idea which estate it's on but it must be Marr Lodge or Invercauld. I'll  email the latter and ask.

Anyone know anything about it?

That's Ben MacDui back-left.

I wouldn't worry too much about tube use around that locality. Loads of lochs to go at.

Pretty sure it's OK.  If I were you I would not even ask, that way you won't be refused. It is highly unlikely you will see anyone on these lochs anyhow.

I could imagine the returns on those casks being astronomic of private sales did happen.

I've been really impressed with Penderyn lately. They have just opened another distillery about 1/2 a mile from the house. The ironically thing is the whisky is cheaper on Amazon rather than the distillery shop. The standard Madeira bottle at 46% natural colour and non chill filtered is around £37.
