At least dry flies are a sweeping generalisation of something
what about the stimulator? Actually that sounds like something in a lonely woman's bed room

The stimulator was designed to imitate the large American stone fly.

The Stimulator will do as any large terrestrial or a stone fly. I would not bother with it as it is poorly designed and spins like a top when cast. There are far better, much simpler, flies, for example a DHS or an Elk Hair Caddis,  but  the real point is you don't need all of them any more than you need a box full of microscopically different  bumbles.
