Has anyone ever used one of these and had any major results over a normal fly? I've noticed there is a bit of a fad for them but with out the scent trace of a real worm I doubt they are anymore effective than any other lure.

From my own experience I've had nothing to write home about while fishing one in fact I think the only time I have caught was on a freshly stocked ressy on a charity day.

Never tied or fished one but it's easy to see why they could be effective

Wildfisher

I've tied a few and fished it once or twice with no results.

They use them a lot at the stockie ponds below a float, oops sorry the technical term is bung. I still see it as lazy mans fly fishing.

Laxdale

Be as well using real worms.

The Squirmy wormy stays on the hook better.
