Hi ,
Can anyone recommend a couple of streamers to tie up for river fishing , the easier to tie the better .

Robbie

Willy bugger would be a good place to start, add in some rubber legs for a bit of a kick.

What Robbie said and also a simple one, black seals fur body, black marabou wing with a rubber leg each side. Size 8 long shank.

Olive woolly bugger with white rubber legs and a tungsten bead head. I have found olive steamers to be by far the most effective for trout.

Thanks so far .
Size 10 max for my club , but all advice appreciated .

I have pretty much given up on longshank hooks as they are such poor holders of hooked fish compared to standard shank length hooks.

Me too. I tend to use wide gape hooks. I too find longshanks are dreadful fish holders.

Has any one tried tying streamers of tubes? might help avoid issues with hook holding off longshank hooks. another option could be to tie as an articulated fly.
