At this time of year I find the Greenwell Spider should be a dark olive.  I had to buy a new reel of thread - UTC Brown Olive.

This morning 6 flees were torn to bits by salmon parr.  The thread was broken by their teeth and the flee unravelled.  I've never had this problem before.

Has anyone else had trouble with this thread?

No criticism of my tying is allowed - the flees work for me.  And I know I should have adjusted the white balance.  Brown Olive thread and a gold rib.

Highlander

I would look to the flies construction rather than blaming the poor old Parr.
:)
Having said that I have never liked UTC thread.

Unlike Highlander I do like UTC, but it is not the thread of choice for a pattern like this.
UTC is a multistrand thread so will be prone to fraying. Once solution would be to cord it, by spinning the bobbin clockwise, before wrapping the body. Better would be to use a bonded thread such as UNI or Benecchi, or best of all, IMHO, Pearsal's Silk.
