Title: a study of fishes by chapman pincher BSc, 1947
Post by: corsican dave on February 13, 2010, 09:26:51 PM
i picked this up from the (somewhat expensive ) leakey's in inverness, yesterday. despite the condition, i couldn't resist it as it's a very good laymans guide to fish biology. very readable with fascinating diagrams and crammed full of information about fishes sensory adaptations and habits. it's all very pertinent to the angler wishing to know more about his quarry!

i've checked on the net, but can only find a couple of academic references to it. it's certainly not available through amazon or alibris.

anyone else got a copy? or something similar you'd recommend? (The Trout, New Naturalist, Frost & Brown would be the obvious choice for forum members...)

Try Child of the Tides by Edward Fahy. Excellent seatrout book.

I have a load of armchair books on trout too and would recommend the following for a good read

Trout and salmon of the world - Calabi. Some crap in it but I still like it.

The Wild Trout - Sutterby and Greenhalgh.

For Grayling I like

Grayling - Broughton
