Title: Orvis Clearwater
Post by: alancrob on March 15, 2013, 12:04:10 AM
I bought a 9' #5 4pc Orvis Clearwater rod on ebay. Rod was advertised as new and having received it next day I have to say I cannot see any signs of use. It even came with the registration card attached.

What I am not sure of is what I write for "Where did you purchase this rod?" Will the guarantee still be valid for a private sale? I have never had an Orvis. The card has a USA address. Is this normal or is the rod an import, or even a fake?

I took a gamble and I think I got a good deal. But it was ebay!

Any suggestions?

I can see that if bought from a dealer, Bob. I am not so sure when bought privately.

Worth a thought. Just emailed the seller to see if he registered it.

i picked up a new orvis from banchory in the sale and they registered it for me but i had the option to do it myself, there is a number on the rod which means they should be able to trace where it was originally sold from.

Thw American registration card is quite commmon. It was on mine which I got from GAC & too be honest I did not bother to send it off.
You could say the rod was a present, was a prize or similar such thing. I would not bother about it too much.
