It might apply well to some locations in the world ... but not much use here !!!  Would certainly give clean water if it is condensing vapour so maybe quite a neat idea.

I know it is old, but I am catching up and killing cold, wet days - the prospect of cutting firewood in this weather doesn't appeal.  :sleep4;

The You tube has gone, due to infringements, but for solarising water vapour, all you need is a decent piece of black polthene, such as used for darkroom paper in the old days.

If it is set so that it has a dip in middle, a small pebble is all it needs, supported around edges by pegs or stones. The sun will condense water to the underside, the dip shape makes the drips fall off - put your mug underneath and it will fill from the drips.

Of course, in Scotland you just collect water from the stream, I bet on the moors you are never more than 100 yards from running water.

... but I have still seen folks using 'water filters' with burn & loch water before they drink it...  :D

Never underestimate the power of marketing.

No doubt sooner or later there will be an EU health directive making it illegal to drink from burns without first running the water through an EU approved filter.

Luckily it won't affect us.

That bitch has nowt to do with the north o Scotland, unless it's a well populated area she, like many of the rest of them, don't give a f*** about us up north and west, all we are is backdrop nostalgia when needed, otherwise forgotten.

For such a non political forum there seems to be an awful lot of political comment made on a daily basis.

I must admit it gets a bit wearing and there is enough of it on Facebook and other forums without it creeping in here. I'm not interested in talking about politics, football or religion so I stay clear of any discussion which involves any of the three.

If you want to check my posting history go for it, likely as  not its my this is my first political posting,  possibly ever, I apologise if my slight deviation from an angling perspective has irritated your sensitivities and will endeavour to ensure all postings in future adhere to wild fishing.

No more wildlife,  environmental, sporting, political, weather, shopping, it development, death of non fishing icons and RUGBY topics, just WILD FISHING here.

The rest o u better observe t new rules as well, or ELSE

I wasn't referring to your post, just the general movement of traffic. There is a rule about no political posts on here and it's for good reason, it causes arguments. I've been suspended before for far less abusive posts than I've seen recently and I now realise that all I want from the forum is discussion about fishing, flies, the outdoors and any other subjects around it. I echo what has already been said, there are plenty other places where arguments about politics are everywhere, this forum is better without them.

Just to clarify. The rule is  "Posts on divisive subjects such as football, religion and politics (unless directly connected to fishing or conservation) will be modified or removed without notice."

This can be read here in the Registration Agreement each member agrees to when they sign up.

http://www.wildfisher.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=17147.0 (http://www.wildfisher.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=17147.0)

For example: when politicians interfere in fishing, for example the WFR,  then they have politicised  fishing. It is a valid subject no matter  which party is involved.  We don't want to go down the road of heavy handed moderation, it's best that members self moderate.  A bit of common sense needs to be applied taking context, humour etc into account. This thread was clearly banter from the first post and not meant to be taken seriously.

An exception to the "light touch"  is  personal insults, personal attacks and the like on other members. This is not tolerated.  If there is something  you don't like then ignore it. This has served us well over the past years.

Couldn't agree more. Well said. This forum is a cut above the rest and I for one would  like to see it stay that way.

Me too. We each have our view on life but it is the love of fishing for wild fishing that drew us to this forum.
Enough said.

This about the only site  where I can read every post without the argument, bitchiness and general nastiness that has made me "flounce off" ( the technical term I believe ) most other sites.

This place is a genuine haven, long may it continue to be so!
