I spoke to the wee woman who ran it a few times late last year. She said the estate weren't renewing their lease and it was being taken over by the youth hostel association.Shame it was a nice friendly wee place to spend an hour waiting for the train.

cheers

Bloody expensive though! If I recall correctly I payed 3.50 for a plate of soup. I had a a packet  of soup and a wee stove in my rucky too. I was a bloody fool.

They have got to be having a joke with the conditions of work. ?5.80 an hour live in but they will levy a charge for utility costs, change the number of hours you work at a whim, have computing skills, food hygiene and cover at short notice. You would need to be desperate to take that on for that salary.
Don't worry, be happy.

I am well aware of that, Dave :) The point was the job was live in and they were charging a levy on utility costs, whatever that covers, it is in the middle of no-where so you can hardly commute. They are guaranteed most of the wages back through the bar so they are loosing very little. I have also met managers that would take time off just for the sake of it on a whim and that would mean the 'cover at short notice' would come in. Under those conditions they will get the person they deserve, not the person they are looking for :)

true! fortunately we've managed to avoid that situation with the shop so far, but it's only a matter of time!

the people who own these businesses (my bosses, for instance) seem to have no grasp of the fact that they'll eventually lose customers through poor service.

it's a shame, especially when you consider how idyllic corrour could be with happy and contented staff.

maybe fred could be persuaded to invest

So you're on ?5.80 per hour. And required to own a car, insure, fuel and tax it. And have your hours messed about at a whim. And pay a fee for "utilities".

I've just sent an email. I doubt that I'll get the job.  :8)
