And if you got one with copper up the middle and it got bent it stayed that way

I've got a steel spinning/coarse rod myself made by Apollo. It's surprisingly light and flexible. It feels a bit like a 1980s glass rod.

My Grandfather fished with one of these, which I think my father's got tucked away somewhere.  If I can prise it away from my old man I'll bring it along to a casting club meet and you can all have a go.
