Hi maybe some of you techie guys can help me. I have an iphone 3g and today tried the icloud find my phone location app on my PC for the 1st time. The location of my phone that showed up was about 6 miles away from me (and my phone), coincidentally near the banks of a river I fish, but not in a street. I tried switching off wifi and searched with 3g and got the same result. I then tried the maps app on the phone itself and it also showed that same location.
There are quite a few posts on the internet about this problem but no solutions.
Any ideas?

I would say there is something wrong with the GPS antenna on the phone either that or it is picking up the signal from the nearest phone tower. If you take the phone outside into a park and try it and it doesn't lock onto your position it is definitely that.

I had a look and found this.

Well done re your research skills. Did as the article suggested and my location on the phone changed to the transmitter located a few hundred yards away but a lot closer than before.
Interestingly when I then did the find ur phone on PC it initially showed the old location then moved to almost my home location. The only difference from reality is it showed me having a swim about 100yds in the sea from my house, just brilliant!!
Thanks

At least it is more or less in the right place. I did read that the GPS unit in the phones isn't as accurate as a dedicated GPS unit but I don't know if that is correct or not.
